How to Resize Images Online for Free — Complete Guide

↔️

Whether you need a specific pixel size for a website, a social media post, or a print project, our free Image Resizer handles it all — no Photoshop required. Here is a complete walkthrough.

Step 1: Open the Image Resizer

Visit pixelforge.com/image-resizer. The tool works on any device — desktop, tablet, or mobile — with no installation needed.

Step 2: Upload Your Image

Click "Upload Image" in the preview panel, or drag and drop your image file onto the page. Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, and WebP.

Once uploaded, you will see:

  • A live preview of your image
  • The original dimensions displayed (e.g., 4032 × 3024 px)

Step 3: Choose How to Resize

You have three ways to resize:

Option A — Quick Presets

Click any preset button to instantly set the target dimensions:

  • Full HD — 1920 × 1080 (standard monitor, YouTube)
  • Instagram Square — 1080 × 1080
  • OG Image — 1200 × 630 (Facebook, link previews)
  • Twitter Banner — 1500 × 500
  • Web Medium — 800 × 600
  • Story — 1080 × 1920 (Instagram/Facebook Stories)

Option B — Custom Dimensions

Enter exact pixel values in the Width and Height fields. With the aspect ratio lock enabled (the chain icon), entering a width automatically calculates the correct height to avoid stretching.

Option C — Scale by Percentage

Click a percentage button to scale relative to the original size:

  • 25% — quarter size (great for thumbnails)
  • 50% — half size
  • 75% — slightly smaller
  • 150% — 1.5× larger
  • — double size

Step 4: Lock or Unlock Aspect Ratio

The aspect ratio lock is on by default. This means if you change the width, the height adjusts automatically to keep the image proportional — preventing distortion.

Turn it off if you need a specific width AND height regardless of proportion (e.g., filling a fixed-size container).

Step 5: Click "Resize Image"

Click the Resize Image button. A live preview updates instantly showing your resized image. The info bar at the bottom shows the new dimensions.

Step 6: Download

Click "Download" to save your resized image. The file is named automatically with the new dimensions in the filename (e.g., photo_1080x1080.jpg).

Tips for Best Results

  • Never upscale beyond 150% — enlarging raster images beyond their original size introduces blurriness. Use our AI tools for upscaling.
  • Resize before compressing — always resize to the correct dimensions first, then run through the Image Compressor for the smallest file.
  • Check DPI for print — for print projects, ensure your image has at least 300 pixels per inch at the printed size.
